Datsun Roadster News & Events

Welcome to the newly redesigned DATSUN.ORG now in its 12th year on the web. Here you'll find buyer's guides, tech tips, manuals, and loads of other information on the Datsun Roadster 1500, 1600, and 2000.

Baby boy keeps Dada busy and not focused on Roadsters! Quick note that the 27th Annual Shasta meet is July 8th and 9th. If you have any interest in a buying a Roadster, find your way down to Mt. Shasta City, CA. Its a lovely city with lots of sun and fresh air.

New baby will be here soon taking some of the focus from the DATSUN side of things.
  • Friend's dad has a Roadster project for sale in the Seattle area - take a look in the for sale section.

  • Robert in Lancaster, CA has 3 Roadster bodies + parts for sale. Let me know if you are interested and I'll email you his phone number.

  • Took a quick ride in a Tesla Roadster last week. Friend got an hour test drive away from the dealer. I thought I had some idea what the 3.7 second 0-60 acceleration in an electric car would be like, but this was truly shockingly in the neck snapping amusement park domain. Felt a little nauseous. It was awesome!

Mike Young wins Best of Show at 26th Anniversary Mt. Shasta Datsun Roadster Meet

By Greg Valazza, posted July 13, 2010

This year's event was a scorcher: 102°F on Friday and 100°F the day of the show. As expected, this year's turnout was smaller than last year's 25th Anniversary gala, but we still had about 20 cars from all over the West Coast.

Mike Young of Datsun Sports in San Francisco brought up a 1967 Datsun 2000 which he had restored to pristine condition.

Its always a pleasure to see the lastest car Mike has been working on

Fully restored 1967 Datsun 2000 for sale

John is selling SRL311-00050 after a complete and total rotisserie restoration. This is as nice of a restoration and as high end as you are ever going to find. Drive train, suspension and frame were done by Classic Datsun Motorsports, and the body, interior and paint were done by Dakota Muscle Cars. This isn't a fire sale, and expect to pay top dollar, but its not often you can find a car like this without having to invest years and upwards of $70K in parts and labor.

I'll be adding some additional photos and details to the site about the car, but wanted to give the heads up if you've been looking for the perfect 67 2 liter.

Car #50 is available now to the right buyer

This is the can't miss event of the year set in the shadows of beautiful Mount Shasta. Last year was a blast seeing old friends and visitors from the SROC in Japan. If you are at all interested in buying a Roadster, this is the place to be.

You'll never know what you'll find at Shasta - Nissan factory hardtop not available in the States

Nissan designer wins award

Nissan's Chief Creative Officer, Shiro Nakamura, has been named one of the 100 Most Creative People in Business by Fast Company magazine. He led the design effort for many of Nissan's vehicles including the Nissan Leaf. I'm excited that Nissan keeps pushing the envelope with cars that are truly spectacular like the GT-R and innovative like the Leaf. You can find a profile of him at Fast Company's website

Scott Scheeler launches third and final edition of The Datsun Roadster Book

Scott released his first edition "Parts Catalog" in 1987. Now over 20 years later, Scott's work has expanded to three full volumes jam packed with articles, tips, parts, history, service notes, and color reproductions of ads, brochures, and other magazine articles. If you own a Roadster or are thinking of buying one, this collection is an absolute must have.

To compliment this, Scott has also just released some very high quality reproductions of the nearly impossible to find Datsun Roadster owner's manuals. These reproductions are not only well done with nice color covers, but also quite affordable.

1/18 scale Datsun Roadster diecast announced Ever wanted a large scale diecast Datsun Roadster which you could actually open the doors and look at the engine inside? AUTOart has announced a full 1/18 scale diecast Datsun Roadster that should be almost 9" long.

[Thanks, Manabu Goshima of the SROC. Manabu has been an invaluble source of news and information for many years.]

SRL311-00064 purchased for restoration
Tim Lester of California has recently acquired an early number 67 2000 and plans on taking on a full restoration. We hope to see some good photos of his progress.

Tim hopes to return car number 64 back to all its glory
The Nissan Leaf road show came to Seattle this week showing off Nissan's first 100% electric car with them. It was worth braving the cold today to see what may be the biggest paradym shift in automotive history.

Hi
I am really interested in purchasing a good 2000, not a restauration project, but one to be driven without problems. Do you know of a trustworthy seller?
I would apreciate your help.
Kind regards

Georges
